Tapered Vase w/ Blue Flame

This is one of the prettiest and most popular glazes that the Huronia studio produced. The white flame glows against the dark blue black body of the vase and appears to be a deep and 3D smoke. The form is really a background, a stage for the glaze. Truly stunning and a great contribution to the landscape of Canadian objects and material culture.

Regretfully, ceramic is facing tough times. Design schools are going digital and programs are being slashed, curious collectors are few, prices are getting pulled down and markets are flooded with Home Outfitters products. But within this reality, Canadian ceramics are having a small and deserved revival.

I hope that this steady presentation of excellent past work is inspirational to the current wave of talent.
