Nita DesBarres (1900-1976) was a well-known unique individual to all the residents of Pictou, Nova Scotia. She called herself the mad potter of Pictou because of the depth of devotion to her favorite medium. Nita’s passion was to make beautiful things as perfectly as possible. She devised her own glazes and original designs. Much of her work was given away but eventually she began to sell some. This little dish is a beautiful example of her work. It measures approximately 6″ X 5″. The design is reminisent of the a seashell.
