Layer Seating

Designed for both public and private use.
The frames' standardized curvature allows the shells to be stacked and configured in a variety of unique combinations.

Dustin Lee’s Layer Seating system is an outstanding exploration of intuitive, functional, and simply good looking furniture design. The modular system of frames and shells is well suited for both public and private spaces. The Layer Seating collection shows how a basic form can be extended across a functional family of diverse seating products including a single-seat, double-seat, and diverse tri-seat variants.

Based on a standardized frame system, the complete family utilizes one uniform molded polyamide framing system allowing the shells to be stacked and configured in different combinations. The project is an exploration of modern materials and a variety of manufacturing processes. The shells are made from highly recyclable PET bottles, which results in a durable construction with unique characteristics.
