If memory serves me correctly, most if not all PC packing is done internally at Loblaws. I have to say that the new white space look is very nice and clean. To the point where I almost bought frozen spring rolls last night…bleech!!

This possibly looks better to ‘design folk’, but I think to the average consumer this looks worse than the No Name products. PC used to compete with regular brands. Now, the lack of richness in the design and photography leaves me feeling like I’m picking over a shelf full of dusty Dharma brand products… not the image I had of this company. I’m not sure where they’re going with this or why. It looks like they killed off PC and are replacing No Name with this.

It is too sterile and frigid for me. There is no warmth and tanginess you may associate with orange juice. Now it definitely looks like a sister brand to no name brand.
@Mike: actually, I’m “design folk”, and I think you described it perfectly. Clumsy type and weak photography has left the brand looking cheap. It’s a shame, because their old design was wonderfully done.

I used to think the PC packaging was eyecatching and I looked for the colourful package and the PC logo. The new packaging looks “cheap” and makes me reconsider buying the product. It appears to be of lower quality – whereas I thought the idea of PC was high quality at reasonable price.

Funny, I actually choose it over others on the shelf now because of the packaging.
I suppose my taste in design is not as sophisticated as some.
Ah well, back to eating my PC granola bars and designing ugly websites.
