Caribou “Marino: The Videos” Cover

This style has become the unofficial look of any product that is aimed at the under thirty crowd. From Juno to American Express, and the Etsy “Buy Handmade”, the loose, sketchbook graphics appear to be the acceptable code for the hipster.  Still, the growing trendiness aside, this example is so full of what can be considered right in great design. It reflects the visual need and sensibility of the users, it presents an honest and anti corporate feel (perfect for product aimed at a bored consumer), and it wraps brands in a sense of cool and timeliness. Best of all, it is bringing illustrators back to the fold, having been absent since Adobe created a world of desk top designers. Love the handmade.
