Personal Watermelon

I am not sure when watermelons got so small (GMO’s anyone?), but someone along the line figured out that lugging a huge basketball sized melon might not be as appealing as popping a shot-put sized one in your bag. Regardless of its history, I was definitely drawn in by this sign at my neighbourhood grocer, branding this lovely summer treat as a “personal watermelon”…like a personal pizza – just for me!

    *tip: try it with lime juice squeezed on top – it’s an Italian design and pure perfection!

    …Or cut it in half, scoop out some of the watermelon, stick a straw in it, and fill with your favourite beverage!
