40 000 Men Needed Poster


Before the World War 1, the Canadian federal government considered Americans to be the preferred and ideal class of immigrants and this poster was designed to encourage Americans to cross the border and populate the west. The graphic style is very much of it’s times, with the poster format being the main mode of advertising distributed (In Post Offices and Goverment buildings) into the U.S. to promote the “last best West”.
