Nlaka’pamux Baby Basket

My paternal aunt, Minnie Peters, made this baby basket for my son in 1982. It is woven with cedar roots and cedar withes with design (imbrication) of canary grass (white) and wild cherry bark (red=natural, black=dyed). The basket is lined with tanned leather and my son loved to sleep tightly laced up inside.
