On July 31st, Toronto’s NXT City opened their 2017 Prize competition. While past competitions have gathered a wide variety of fresh and innovative ideas for public space projects across the city – including the winning streetcar safety murals submission by Lucas DeClavasio and Andrew Patterson pictured above – this year’s new format aims to ensure the capacity for the winning ideas to gain traction beyond the competition’s end with four site/client specific briefs including the Wellington Destructor Site, The The Bentway, The Liberty Market Galleria, and Code for Canada each with a $5000 prize up for grabs. Ideas can be submitted by individuals or teams on two 11×17 entry boards including a vision statement and are due by September 15. The Winners will be announced October 14, 2017.
