Men’s Seal Skin Boots

Like most Inuit, the Baffinland Inuit make boots from haired and shaved seal skin and caribou. This pair of ceremonial kamiks use traditional vertical geometric shapes (women’s boots feature horizontal graphics), a decoration that is also used on pants, mittens and parkas. The boots are like shells, worn over embroidered wool liners, with pants tucked into their tops.
