Trigger Mitts

A cherished heritage pattern that has been passed down generation-to-generation in Newfoundland, Trigger Mittens are knit to keep three fingers together for warmth, while the index or “trigger” finger and thumb are separate. Historically worn by hunters and fishermen, these versatile mittens allowed men and women to keep warm while still having full use of their hands. Each pair is handmade by knitters on Change Islands using 100% Canadian wool.
